This Course has been created to satisfy the need of many businesses that are aware of their responsibility to safeguard their employees’ mental health. There are generally four main parts to this responsibility:

  1. They feel a genuine desire to keep their staff healthy as a moral responsibility.

  2. They feel the need to control the financial pain of employees taking extended time off for stress related illness.

  3. They are aware of a legal obligation, which is not very well defined, but could result in expensive litigation and compensation.

  4. They need an education strategy that ensures, strengthens and protects the individual and the ethos and goals of the business.

If we accept these responsibilities, what is the way forward? Traditionally, a stress management workshop is the go to option. The problem is, they can quite often make participants more stressed because they are away from their job and work is piling up, the things that they are shown sound good, but many are forgotten before they get home and then there is the sad fact that many of these courses are fairly lightweight and offer advice such as ‘drink more water’, ‘get more sleep’, ‘meditate for 40 minutes a day’ etc. The employer will find it hard to quantify the value of such training and the participant will become a bit disillusioned with future stress management training. Even with the best quality training, it is over at the end of the day, the trainer has disappeared into the woodwork and there has not been sufficient time to practice and build a regime that works for each individual.

So, what is the answer? Well, this Course hopefully! Let’s look at some of the benefits.

  • The very latest techniques and information from modern neuroscience and psychological research, backed up with practical, effective methods that have been successfully used in crisis management, both personally and professionally over the last 27 years of practice.

  • It is CPD accredited which gives assurance of structure, content and quality, even if a business decides not to opt for CPD credits for participants. The credits are useful for any participants if they are on a management path.

  • The Course focuses on self awareness and authenticity, because this is the bedrock of good stress management, but it also forms a strong foundation for building a successful career in management, as the participants become more comfortable with themselves and start to apply what they have learnt to team members and with line managers.

  • Participants are encouraged to choose what works for them and trial it in private, which is generally much more successful than practising in a room full of competing colleagues and line managers. Participants are given the tools to feel comfortable and able to accept responsibility for their own mental, physical and emotional needs.

  • As an online e-course it is available 24/7 as long as you have an internet connection. It is split into over 70 different sections, with most taking less than 10 minutes to listen to, or read. It consists of exercises that need to be practised and adapted, information about why we get stressed and insights into why we behave in the way we do. Each individual will find information that particularly resonates with them. There is generally no maximum time limit for completing the Course, unless the participants are working towards the 20 CPD credits, in which case it normally needs to be completed in 6 months.

  • Exercises are included for physical, mental and emotional stress and some are formal, where short amounts of time are needed to practice them, others are informal and can be carried out to great effect, whilst going about the business of the day. Access to all part of the Course is straightforward, so that it is easy to choose particular interventions for specific times of day, for specific types of stress.

  • Most importantly, the CPD email, and CPD email and Skype versions of the Course come with a very effective safety net. Each participant will complete four assignments and will get feedback and answers to any questions that they have about stress, during their participation in these assignments. Those with the added 2 X one to one Skype sessions will be guided on how to use what they have learned with general management scenarios, but mainly those that may be giving them difficulty.

  • These email and Skype sessions are not counselling, but they are totally confidential and no information will be kept on a work, or medical record. However, if they express a need for counselling, that can easily be arranged.

  • Enroling members of staff on the Course goes a long way to show that a business is making proactive arrangements to safeguard the mental health of its employees. This is an important benefit to offer when recruiting staff.

  • Extra email and Skype sessions can be booked easily to deal with personal crisis.

The important part of a successful stress management programme is that participant don’t just become less stressed they become more focused and reliable with better concentration, they have stronger communication skills, are better at solving problems, and have less time off work.
