What does the Course Cover?
The subject matter is very extensive and varied. It is practically based so that you can gain a good level of competanace in practicing mindfulness for yourself, but also be able to professionally facilitate others, individually and in groups. If you would like a copy of the syllabus, please email us with your request.
Do I need any qualifications to come on the course?
No. The Course is open for everyone. If you have some special requirements to help you learn, or to be comfortable during the days, please let us know. The presenter uses a wheelchair, so he will be understanding of your needs.
Do I need an understanding of Mindfulness before the Course starts?
No. The choice is up to you. You are not required to have any knowledge, but you will be provided with a reading list if you would like to gain some knowledge, before the Course starts. It is often very useful to have group members that have different levels of knowledge because they can offer a new perspective to some of us that might be stuck in our ways. Whatever your knowledge level, you will be welcome.
Is the Course based on MBSR of MBCT?
There will be elements of both in the Course, but neither are central to what we will be learning. The guiding principle of this Course is to let you experience a wide range of thoughts, techniques and exercises and then allow yourself time after the Course to decide on your own preferences. I am of the belief that there is no evidence that any approach is best. The way that suits you the best will ultimately serve you well.
Is the Course Religious, Spiritual or Philosophically based?
The answer is neither a 'yes' or 'no' to that question! No particular system is favoured, by choice, but we will of course dip into religious, spiritual and philosophical matters, because they are all part of being human.
How will I gain the CPD credits at the end of the Course?
Everyone gets a certificate of attendance, but only those that complete the assignment will be eligible for the CPD credits. The assignment will be discussed during the Course and answers to the questions can be found in the extensive notes, if you get stuck. Also, if you have difficulty in writing, for whatever reason, you will be given the opportunity to take an oral assessment. The assessment needs to be completed within 6 months of the end of the Course.
What is included in the Course Fee?
The Course Fee includes all the training over the 35 hours of the Course, all the extensive handouts that will be available for digital download at the end of every day, meditation scripts and meditation instructions and light refreshments throughout the day. The fee does not cover overnight accomodation, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or any other travel or sundry expenses.
Is the Venue fixed?
In most cases yes, but sometimes depending on Course numbers or circumstances beyond our control, it might be rearranged. It will always be reloacated as close to the original site as possible and care will be taken to ensure that it will be close to major road and rail links.
Who Is The Course For?
There is really no reason why anyone should not come on the Course. However, it might be very useful for some of the following:
● Someone moving into, or in, management at any level.
● People in HR, Training, or Wellbeing Services.
● Teachers who would like to introduce Mindfulness to their school or class.
● Anyone who is in the caring professions whether traditional or complementary.
● Those who have CPD requirements and would like to do something different and stimulating.
● Anyone suffering from stress, depression or anxiety who would like to learn new ways of overcoming it.
● Somebody who is interested in learning about Mindfulness and what it can do for them.
